Wedding

We had two wonderful wedding celebrations in the German summer of 2016:

  • Civil ceremony

    July 1st 2016
    Townhall, Speyer

  • Open-air ceremony

    July 2nd 2016
    Hotel Annaberg, Bad Duerkheim

Civil ceremony (July 1, 2016)

We choose to get legally married in Speyer, one of Germany's oldest cities. Speyer is dominated by the Speyer Cathedral, a number of churches and the Altpörtel (old gate). In the cathedral, beneath the high altar, are the tombs of eight Holy Roman emperors and German kings. The civil ceremony took place on the ground floor of Speyer's town hall.

The wedding room, the former archive space, is in late baroque style with wood-paneled walls and a decorative gallery. Seating for about 30 guests. The ceremony was in the late Friday morning with our family and close friends. The ceremony was bi-langual. Marco's best man (right) was so kind to be the translator.

The whole procedure only lasted 30 minutes but it was a special moment to say "Yes" each other for the first time.

A short cocktail reception followed with surprise elements. Who cuts their half of the heart faster with nail scissor and therefore dominates the relationship?

Another romantic surprise from Mama Eidinger: balloons! Together with your family we let up in the air to show off our love.

As last offical activity of the day the newlyweds invited for lunch at the Hausbrauerei Domhof.

Open-air ceremony and party (July 2, 2016)

We are not religious so we didn't want to marry in church. However, we liked to have an additional ceremony with our friends and family together.

As location we chose Hotel Annaberg, in Bad Dürkheim. Surrounded by scenic vineyards and woodlands, this 4-star hotel is situated on the Annaberg hill between Bad Dürkheim and Leistadt. It enjoys wonderful views of the entire Rhine river valley.

The morning was rainy but around noon the sun came out and promised as a wonderful Saturday afternoon. Perfect for a wedding. But Germans are careful so the prepared tent gets used anyway.

Marco: Even we did our wedding photo shooting right before the ceremony it was still breathtaking to walk down the isle with a such a beautiful bride.

Our ceremony was conducted by freelance theologian and wedding speaker Mr. Himmel. It allowed us to design a individual and dual language ceremony.

A cocktail reception in the garded followed the ceremony. We were using the time to socialze and make portrait pictures with our guests.

During our cocktail reception and dinner time we had wonderful live music provided by Kampowksi agency. Guitarist Harry and singer Stephanie.

A very special moment was when even Marco's best man performed an original song to honor the bridal couple. Additionally Marco's friends produced a movie full of pictures from us and a recreation of our engagement.

A dinner buffet, a wonderful cake and a candy bar were the culinarial highlights of the evening.

The first dance was performed to the music of L-O-V-E from Nat King Cole. Then the guests joined us on the dancefloor.

DJ Christian, also from Kampowski, finished shortly before 3am and the last guests are leaving or going into bed. What a night! Especially to the grande firworks at 11pm organized by Mama Eidinger.

All the highlights (inclusive of our wedding photo shooting) are captured in a slide show provided by our photographer Roger Rachel.

All wedding-related pictures are available in our very own wedding app accessible on Android or via Web.
